Do I need IRB approval to conduct oral history research at OSU?

If you are working in a university or tribal setting, your oral history project may require Institutional Review Board oversight if  A) there is the intent to draw generalized conclusions in published or publicly presented scholarship based on information your project gathered in oral history interviews; B) your interview participants will include populations vulnerable to coercion or undue influence as outlined in the federal guidelines; or C) your project has external funding which requires a verifiable IRB designation. At OSU, it is best to check with the IRB Office before beginning any work. https://research.okstate.edu/research-compliance/irb/
